Haryana Food and Supplies Department cancelled licenses of 13 depot holders

Chandigarh, December 23- Haryana Food and Supplies Department has cancelled licenses of 13 depot holders for committing various irregularities. Also, security amounting to Rs 2.23 lakh of 34 dealers has been forfeited up to the month of October of the current financial year 2015-16.

        While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Department said that so far during the current financial year, licenses of 171 depot holders have been cancelled and security amounting to Rs 19.50 lakh of 410 dealers has been forfeited. He said that essential commodities were being provided to the people through 9,352 fair price shops located in urban and rural areas, near industrial units, schools and hostels of students. He said that out of the total fair price shops functioning in the State, 6,523 were located in the rural areas and 2,829 in urban areas. As many as 77 fair price shops were located near industrial units and 22 fair price shops were located near schools and hostels, he added.

        He said that in October, about 63,107 Metric Tonnes of wheat has been distributed through Fair Price Shops, out of which 8,452 Metric Tonnes have been distributed under the ‘Antyodaya Anna Yojana’.
