Chandigarh-22/10/22,Celebrating Diwali for the cause of speechless.Celebrating Diwali for the cause of speechless. The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Sector-38, Celebrating Diwali for the cause of speechless. which is functioning under the Presidentship of Deputy Commissioner, UT Chandigarh celebrated Diwali for the cause of speechless today in its premises.
The main objective of society is to prevent cruelty to animals, provide veterinary assistance to homeless/injured/stray animals, and impart humane education to the general public against the implication of pain or suffering to the ownerless animals. The ‘Home for Homeless’ campaign was organized at SPCA by encouraging the adoption of stray/abandoned animals on the eve of Diwali.
The awareness drive has been launched for this Diwali week to make the public more aware of how fire work/crackers harm the voiceless creatures living on the roadside and affect their physical and mental health. The continuous loud bursts are literally nerve-wracking to them. The pollution of crackers not only kills the environment but tortures animals to the point where they end up suffering from anxiety, fear, and sometimes death. In their message, the SPCA requested to the public to be more compassionate towards these voiceless creatures and leave their ignorance at the door and show some empathy towards them. They added that Diwali would have been so much pretty if the frightening sounds of crackers would not twinge the stray animals.
During the year 2022, the SPCA has admitted and treated 4086 animals, done 240 cruelty challans, and helped 88 animals to find their home through adoption. At present, approx. 340 animals are admitted to SPCA and health care services are being provided to them.
On this occasion Mrs. Palika Arora, Director Animal Husbandry-cum-Vice President SPCA, Dr. Kanwarjit Singh, Joint Director of Animal Husbandry-cum- Hony. General Secretary, of SPCA, were present. The volunteers/animal lovers associated with the SPCA and other NGOs also participated in this event with great enthusiasm.
