Smarajit Sen has been a child prodigy and has been destined to be a musician from his childhood. He currently is an Assistant Professor at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, Punjab. He is also an A-Grade Artist in All India Radio and Television. Smarajit has received his taalim under Prof Sukumar Chanda since the age of seven. Later he also came under the able tutelage of legends like Pt Buddhadev Dasgupta , Ustad Shahid Parvez and Pt Niladri Kumar. He has been an ITC Sangeet Research Academy Scholar. Smarajit has also received numerous accolades and scholarships in music. He is now also an empanelled artist of ICCR.
On other hand Tabla exponent Jaidev is the son and disciple of Tabla maestro of the Punjab Gharana Pt Kale Ram ji and also has acquired his taalim under Late Sh. Harivanash Lal Ji. This intensive tutelage made him an able accompanist and also a soloist. He is a Sangeet Bhaskar diploma holder of Pracheen Kala Kendra and later completed his Bachelor’s degree and Masters’s degree in Tabla from Punjabi University, Patiala. He is also an empanelled artist at ICCR and an A-graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan.

Samarjit commenced with quiet dignity of the methodical and reposeful alap in Raga “Tilak Kumud” . This was followed by jod-alap and jod-jhala which were a variant of the usual Sitar playing. His touch, strokes, glides and subsequent production of tonal and microtonal effects points to his sound training. He then moved on to present to two gats in Vilambit Madhya laya and drut teen taal. Samarjit concluded his recital with a Dhun in Raga Mishra Bhairavi amid thunderous applause. Samarjit’s sensitive yet controlled handling of the instrument was testimony to his talent and dedication to music. His rhythmic and melodic vitality shone throughout his performance. The rhythm on the Tabla was marked by eminent Tabla exponent Sh. Jaidev.
