Governor to inaugurate CII Chandigarh Fair today (18 October)

The wait for the much awaited shopping festival of the region is over, as Confederation of Indian Industry’s flagship event CII Chandigarh Fair 2019 is all set to commence from tomorrow, i.e 18th October at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The fair will be open from 10 am to 8 pm till 21st October.

To be formally inaugurated by Shri V P Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor, Punjab & Administrator, UT Chandigarh, the 24th edition of the fair shall capture the nerve of family shoppers with large focus on interesting deals & discounts, Diwali gifts, daily lucky draws and much more. The four-day fair would host more than 450 stalls in 12 concurrent expos, including Realcon (Real Estate), Gardenia, Infocom, Apparels, Home Décor, Food, Persona, Home Appliances & Kitchen Ware, International Arcade and many more. The fair will showcase a variety of products to choose from countries like Afghanistan and Thailand, besides finest products from the domestic sellers. This year, the focus of the fair is ‘Making Chandigarh Plastic-Free’ in synergy with the Government of India’s mandate to make our nation free of plastic pollution and various environmental hazards. It shall also emphasize on making the UT honk-free and encourage the visitors to contribute to the cause in their individual capacities. The Chandigarh Traffic Police shall showcase an art gallery with paintings themed on road safety and shall also host an awareness campaign on topics such as wearing helmets, adhering to traffic rules, etc. CII urges the citizens to carry their own cloth bags and explore shared mobility options in view of its endeavour to sensitize people to adopt eco-friendly practices. In addition, the Registering & Licensing Authority (RLA) Chandigarh is also setting up a single window facility at the fair to enable the visitors to apply for a learner’s license while shopping at the fair. They shall also create awareness among the citizens about the new amendments in the Motor Vehicle Act.

Apart from being a one-stop shopping solution to its visitors, the fair also boasts of being one of the largest display arena for SMEs and MSMEs who have availed the platform as a powerful tool for experiential marketing that helps them engage with an active & highly motivated audience in a face-to-face environment. Participation from NABARD, NSIC and National Jute Board adds to the takeaways of both the exhibitors and the buyers.
