Chandigarh, September 27: The Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Mr. Anurag Aggarwal has directed District Election officers not to accept any nomination papers on September 28-29 (Saturday and Sunday). Along with this, he also directed the District Election Officers (DEO) to ensure the strictest compliance of Model Code of Conduct in the State during the elections to ensure law and order.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) gave these directions while interacting with the DEO’s and Superintendents of Police through video conferencing here today.

During the meeting, the CEO also directed the DEOs to complete the process of making the new votes of the applications received till September 24 and should also ensure the timely distribution of the epic cards of the new voters.

He further asked the officers to make and finalize the list of the vulnerable and critical polling booths in the State and send the report of the same as soon as possible. He said that as per the Election Commission guidelines, the officers should also ensure that during the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections 2019, no candidate or party should influence the voters by giving them any kind of freebies in order to get their votes. Therefore, as per Commission guidelines, every officer should go to the field and identify such areas and booths which fall under the category of expenditure sensitive constituencies and pockets.

Instructing the District Election Officers, Mr. Anurag Agarwal said that an FIR can be registered under the IT Act, if any candidate or political party uploads any video in favour of caste, religion or any derogatory material on the YouTube channel, violating the Model Code of Conduct, during the election.

He said that the districts which still have not completed the First Level Checking (FLC) of ballot unit, control unit, and VVPAT machines should soon complete the FLC process.

During the meeting ADGP, Law and Order, Mr. Navdeep Singh Virk directed the Superintendents of Police of the districts to keep a close vigil on the police check post across the State and also speed up the submission of license arms process. He further directed that officers should keep a check on the illegal liquor and cash movement. He said that during the inter-state police check post, the officers should have proper coordination with the neighboring states to maintain law and order.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. D.K. Behera, Joint Chief Electoral Officers, Dr. Inder Jeet, and Mr. Apurv, were also present.

Chandigarh, September 27- The Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Mr. Anurag Aggarwal today inaugurated State Control Room of Social Media and Media Center which has been set up to monitor and control all types of election processes which will be held during Haryana Assembly General Election-2019.

Speaking on this occasion, he said that from this control room, all kinds of activities related to the election process will be monitored and if any delay or problem arises, then prompt action will be taken.

Mr. Anurag Aggarwal visited the control room and interacted with the district headquarters through video conferencing. He informed that from today onwards, campaigning by various political parties and candidates or other persons will speed up and therefore a separate media center has been set up to keep check on paid news and advertisements in print and electronic media as the Model Code of Conduct has already come into force.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Mr D.K. Behera, Joint Chief Electoral Officers, Dr. Inder Jeet and Mr. Apurv, along with officers and staff of the media center and control room were present.

Chandigarh, September 27– In view of General Elections to Vidhan Sabha 2019, liquor, cash and drugs amounting to Rs 3,31,90,462 has been seized by the Police and Excise Department in Haryana.

Sharing more details, here today, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Dr. Inder Jeet said that the police have so far recovered 19157 litres liquor, worth over Rs 30, 24,314. Similarly, the Excise Department has so far recovered 6,573 litres of liquor, which is worth Rs 16, 05,981.

Thus, a total of 25, 730 litres of liquor has been seized by the Excise and Police Departments, which costs Rs 46,30,295. He said that drugs and toxic substances worth Rs 2, 53, 62,702 have been seized by the flying squad and the static surveillance teams. He further shared that till now the police department has seized illegal cash amount of 31, 97,465.

He said that in order to maintain law and order in the State during the elections, 78992 license arms have so far been deposited by the Haryana Police. Apart from this, the police have also seized 44 illegal weapons. He said that the 489 police check-post have been set up at various places in the state.

Dr. Inder Jeet said that the police have recovered 16342 bottles of countrymade liquor, 7955 bottles of English liquor, 1097 bottles of beer, 81.848 kg hemp, 41.840 kg poppy husk, 612 gm heroin, 5.650 kg opium, 1.925 kg smack, 15 kg lahan, 1.852 kg churapost, 634 gm Chitta and 1.75 kg charas. He said that fake currency notes of Rs 14, 94,000 have also been seized by the police.
