Newly Constituted Administrators Advisory Council Meets today.
Chandigarh, 13th September 2019: The Administrator’s Advisory Council meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh in the presence of Smt. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, Chandigarh, Sh. Pawan Bansal, Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Sh. Harmohan Dhawan, Former Members of Parliament, Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Mayor Chandigarh, members of the council, and senior officials of Chandigarh Administration.
The Administrator welcomed all the council members and shared the upcoming projects of the Chandigarh Administration and some areas that need attention as well as support of the Advisory Council. He began by highlighting the outstanding work done by the Administration under Poshan Abhiyaan, Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
Sh. VP Singh Badnore also emphasized that to overcome the water shortage; various steps have been taken up. In addition to this health facilities have been improved in the City with an addition of 50 extra seats in Government Medical College, Sector 32. In addition to this, he also focused making Sardar Beant Singh Memorial and Chandigarh Centre for performing and Visual Arts be developed as a cultural hub on the lines of India International Centre, New Delhi.
The Administrator encouraged the officials to continue working to make Fit India Movement successful in the City. He also thanked Smt. Kirron Kher for upgrading the open air gyms for the residents. He also shared that soon Chandigarh will have a Shooting Range at Sarangpur that will be equipped with international standard equipment and technology.
The Administrator also launched the online procedure for submitting applications as well as issuance of the fire safety certificate. The procedure has been devised by the NIC, UT, Chandigarh. This application involves making payments through net banking, Debit/Credit Card, no physical interface except inspection of building, time bound service delivery, status of application through SMS, tracking of application at each stage and a digitally signed certificate.
Furthermore, the Administrator also launched e-Gazette portal (https://egazette.chd.gov.in/) and Android App designed by NIC Chandigarh. This portal has been developed to put an end to the work of manual printing of gazette. This portal will automatically send soft copy of notifications to subscribers, who are registered on this portal.
Proceeding further, three presentations on Law and Order, Urban Mobility, Pedestrians and Parking management plan at Sukhna Lake were presented by the respective sub-committee members.
Sh.Sanjay Baniwal, DGP Chandigarh divulged that for efficient disposal of issues affecting people, Chandigarh Police will soon come up with Modern Police Control room. He further shared that the Police has taken stringent steps to control cyber crime and strict action has been taken against violators of traffic rules so as to maintain law and order in the City.
Smt. Nilabari Jagadale, SSP Chandigarh presented before the council members the law and order initiatives and issues that needs to be addressed. She stressed upon the revitalization of the beat policing system and crime mapping as a result of which substantial reduction in crime can be seen in the city. She further elaborated that a constant vigil has been maintained to cope up with the major concerns like substance abuse and drugs.
Divulging further, she said that Chandigarh Police in collaboration with Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM) has initiated a unique outreach, awareness and skill development programme (URJA) to create awareness and to impart life skill training to children vulnerable to substance abuse.
A Second presentation regarding Parking policy was given by Sh.Kapil Setia, Chief Architect. He highlighted the significant aspects of the proposed policy such as Strengthening of Public Transport System, Infrastructure Interventions; Technology based Interventions, Management, and Enforcement etc.
Lastly, a presentation on Pedestrian and Parking Management Plan at Sukhna Lake was presented by Shashank Anand SSP, Traffic .He briefed about the present traffic scenario at Sukhna Lake through a video clip. He further explained that the traffic management plan is aimed at the safety of the pedestrians and cyclists, to maintain the Aesthetics and heritage, to improve the mobility for road users and to reduce pollution of Sukhna Lake.
In the end, an open house discussion held wherein the committee members shared their inputs on different issues. The Administrator assured that Administrator’s Advisory Council will meet more frequently. Ten standing committees will be constituted to give policy inputs on different subjects.
