Book Fairs during the Swarna Jayanti year

Chandigarh, Dec 20 – Haryana Government has decided to organize Book Fairs during the Swarna Jayanti year so as to acquaint the general public with rich cultural heritage, history, folk literature and art of the State.These Fairs would be organized in Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Hisar, Sirsa and Faridabad.
While stating this here today, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department Minister Mrs Kavita Jain said that Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal has given approval to a proposal of Haryana Granth Akademi for the same.
The Minister said that this decision would not only help in giving information about Haryanvi literature to the people but would also encourage the writers associated with the Akademi.
She said that State Granth Akademi would present more than 360 books of experienced, young litterateurs, writers and poets. These Book Fairs would house the published creations of Akademi. Apart from an exhibition, kavi sammelan, book release and other cultural events would also be organized in these fairs.
The Minister said that these fairs would help in publicity of Akademi books and ensure that readers would get these books on subsidized rates. The people of the state, for the first time, would get an opportunity to see and understand the Haryanvi culture at close.
