Chandigarh/Panchkula, Dec 14–The Haryana State Election Commissioner, Dr. Dalip Singh, has said that NOTA (none of the above) option will be used for the first time in the general election for the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, and Municipal Council, Bhiwani, along with by-elections in Ward No. 3, Municipal Council, Mandi Dabwali.
Announcing the election schedule at Panchkula, near here, today, Dr Singh said that observers above the rank of Superintendent of Police had been appointed for the first time in the municipalities where general elections would be held. They will oversee the law and order, deployment of police force and keep a watch on the anti-social elements through district police force.
Mr. Jagdish Chander Nagar, DIG, SCB, Faridabad and Mr. Sibash Kabiraj, DIG, HAP, Madhuban, have been appointed police observers for the Faridabad MC and Bhiwani Municipai Council, respectively.
Dr Singh said that as many as 10,28,690 voters, including 5,74,257 males and 4,54,433 females, in the MC, Faridabad, and 1,21,136 voters, including 64,242 males and 56,894 females, in the Municipal Council, Bhiwani, would exercise their franchise.
While election would be held on January 8, 2017, the result would be declared on completion of the counting the same day.
