Haryana Government has banned carrying of arms at functions.

Chandigarh, Dec 5–In view of the recent incidents of celebratory firings at weddings, the Haryana Government has banned carrying of arms at such functions in the state under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
This was disclosed by the Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Mr. Ram Niwas, while interacting with media persons here today. It has been noticed that people often indulged in celebratory firing during weddings after consuming alcohol, he said.
Taking serious note of such incidents, the Police Department has been directed to put a check on carrying of arms at wedding functions, in coordination with the district magistrate concerned. Aerial firing is also an offence punishable by six months’ imprisonment. He appealed to the people to stop their relatives from carrying arms at such functions.
