Issue of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal being politicised-Manohar Lal.

Chandigarh, Nov 11 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the issue of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal was being politicised for decades but soon after the formation of the present State Government, the issue was effectively pursued before the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court, which had reserved its decision in March, but now it ruled it in favour of Haryana. Southern Haryana would now be transformed completely as soon as the State receives its share of water.
The Chief Minister, who was speaking at a function in Ateli, district Mahendragarh today, said that the State Government had already started work to upgrade the irrigation system in the state at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore in preparation of supply of surplus water.
He said that politics and religion would have to work together for the betterment of the society. He said that for the eradication of corruption, the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi had made a surgical stroke instead of surgical strike due to which people who were indulged in wrong practices have become restless. This stroke has brought smiles on the faces of people, he added.
Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones of ITI building to be established at village Sujapur at a cost of over Rs 4.47 crore, railway overbridge on Ateli-Behrod road at a cost of about Rs 25 crore and community centre at village Sehlang to be set up at a cost of Rs 27 lakh.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister announced various development projects for Ateli Assembly Constituency. These included construction of an auditorium at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore in government college, Kisan Bhawan at a cost of Rs 60 lakh in Anaj Mandi, Multi Skill Centre in Fatni and making Prithvipura-Kanti road pucca, among other projects. He also assured that action would soon be taken for canal based drinking water supply in 60 villages of the area.
He also announced Rs five crore for arrangement of drainage of storm water in Ateli. He announced construction of road from Bajar to Ganihar at a cost of Rs 81 lakh, besides Rs 10 lakh and Rs five lakh for Gaushalas at Bihali and Kheri, respectively.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated eye checkup camp organised by Shree Swami Jagannath Charitable Trust, Ateli Mandi.
