The state government had pleaded the case of SYL in the Supreme Court immediately.

Chandigarh, November 4 – The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, today said that only after immediate action was taken by the state government that the apex court had appointed the Punjab Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police as receivers of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal (SYL) to check any violation of the court’s order. The court also directed them to stop filling of the canal otherwise it would take action.
The Chief Minster was replying to a point raised by the former Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, in the one-day special Swarna Jayanti session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, here today.
The state government had pleaded the case of SYL in the Supreme Court immediately after the Punjab Vidhan Sabha passed the Punjab Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal Land (Transfer of Property Rights) Bill, 2016, he added.
