Haryana Tourism would, for the first time in the State, organise Diwali Mela at three of its tourism complexes
Chandigarh, Oct 17 – With a view to celebrate the Festival of Lights in a befitting manner, Haryana Tourism would, for the first time in the State, organise Diwali Mela at three of its tourism complexes from October 21 to 24, 2016. Entry to the Mela would be free for all.
While stating this here today, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation, Mr. Sameer Pal Srow, said that the Mela would be organised at Oasis tourism complex in Karnal, Badkhal in Faridabad and Myna in Rohtak.
He said that the major highlights of the Diwali Mela included shopping bazaar, multi-cuisine food court, competitions for school students and joy rides. Cultural dance performances would also be organised for the visitors, who would also get the opportunity to bag great deals on handcrafted textiles, jewellery and home décor items, besides sampling regional dishes. He said that vibrant stalls would lend a dash of colour to the Mela ambience, and there would be something for all age groups, including children, who could enjoy fun rides and gaming stalls.
He said that the preparations for Haryana Tourism’s Surajkund International Crafts Mela to be held from February 1 to 15, 2017 at Faridabad, have also started. With a view to make the Mela a more pleasurable experience, the Mela area has been expanded and it is now spread over 56 acre that house over 1,000 work huts for hosting craftspersons, he added.
He said that a number of projects were being taken up on Private-Public Partnership mode to boost the tourism sector in the State. These projects included amusement park at Tilyar, Rohtak, wellness resort-cum-health spa at village Kaziana, Panchkula, health club at Faridabad, floating restaurant at Karna Lake, Karnal and Heritage Hotel at Madhogarh, he added.
