Department to ensure that Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) of contractual employees are deposited in their accounts

Chandigarh, Oct 7 – Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain, today directed officers of the Department to ensure that Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) of contractual employees are deposited in their accounts on a regular basis and the facility of Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) is provided to them.
The Minister was interacting with media persons after a meeting with representatives of Fire Brigade Karamchari Sangh and Nagarpalika Karamchari Sangh here.
Reiterating that the State Government was working for their welfare and was considering favourably their demands, the Minister appealed to the employees not to go on strike on October 26 and 27.
She said that the demand for Risk Allowance and implementation of Group Insurance Scheme raised by the employees of the fire brigade would be considered. Apart from this, officers of the Department have been directed to record the name of each employee of municipalities in the register, issue identity cards to them and clear the pension cases of retired employees in a timely manner, she added. She said that demands requiring the approval of the Chief Minister would be forwarded to him at the earliest.
She said that officers had been directed to examine the matter of enhancing the allowances being provided to employees of municipalities and present a proposal in this regard. She said that as the Punjab and Haryana High Court had stayed the policy of regularisation of contractual employees, the matter would be considered after the decision of the High Court. Efforts would be made to extend the benefits of recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission to the municipality employees along with other employees, she added.
Referring to demand for allotment of plots raised by Safai Karamchari, the Minister said that the State Government was implementing the Housing for All scheme in public interest in spite of shortage of land. Eligible employees could apply for allotment under this scheme, she added.
