State level function of Wildlife Safety Week from October 1 to 6, would be organised
Chandigarh, Sept 28- Haryana Forest Minister, Rao Narbir Singh said that the state level function of Wildlife Safety Week, which would be from October 1 to 6, would be organised at Jind, where Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal would be the chief guest.
He stressed the need for conservation of wildlife to increase area under forest and maintain ecological balance in view of increasing water and air pollution.
Rao Narbir Singh said that every year, Van Mahotsava and Wildlife Safety Week are organised to spread awareness among the people about importance of forests and wildlife.
He said that the State Government has taken effective steps for the conservation of wildlife species which are near extinction. Therefore, Peacock and Chinkara Breeding Centre has been established on Jhabua Reserve Forest Area in district Rewari. Similarly, in view of vanishing species of vultures, first Vulture Conservation Breeding Centre of the country was established at Pinjore. The Chinkara Breeding Centre and Crocodile Breeding Centres have been established at Kairu village, district Bhiwani and Bhor Saidan in Kurukshetra, respectively.
