Good responce for‘Pashudhan Bima Yojana’ launched by the Haryana Government.
Chandigarh, August 7–The ‘Pashudhan Bima Yojana’ launched by the Haryana Government in July this year, has attracted good response in Ambala district where as many as 6,000 animals have already been got insured by their owners.
Stating this here today, a spokesman of the Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department said that under the scheme, insurance cover for milch animals such as cows and buffaloes achieving the minimum prescribed milk yield is provided for three years for just Rs 100. Similarly, low-value milch and other income-generating animals such as sheep and goats are provided insurance cover at a premium of just Rs 25.
Urging the owners in the district to get their livestock insured, the spokesman said that grants of up to 50 per cent were being provided for setting up of dairies of indigenous cows. Similarly, grant of 25 per cent is provided for dairies of other breeds of cows.
Incentive of Rs 10,000 is also being provided to the owners of Hariana cows yielding eight to 10 kgs of milk, Rs 15,000 to the owners of cows yielding 10 to 12 kgs and Rs 20,000 to owners of cows yielding more than 12 kgs.
Similarly, owners of Sahiwal cows yielding 10 to 12 kgs of milk are being provided incentives of Rs 10,000, owners of cows yielding 12 to 15 kgs are being provided Rs 15,000 and owners of cows yielding more than 15 kgs of milk are being provided Rs 20,000.
With a view to availing themselves of the incentives, the owners of such cows are required to submit an application to the nearest veterinary hospital.
