Mr. Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar was administered the oath of office as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Chandigarh, August 6- The Acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr. Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar was administered the oath of office as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, by Governor of Haryana and Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh UT, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki in a simple and impressive ceremony at Haryana Raj Bhavan here today.
Apart from the Judges of the Punjab and Haryana high Court , others present on the occasion included Haryana Chief Minister,Mr Manohar Lal; Punjab Cabinet Minister Aadesh Pratap Karon; Chief Secretary Haryana Mr D.S. Dhesi; Chief Secretary Punjab Mr Sarbesh Kaushal; Adviser to Administrator Chandigarh Mr Parimal Rai; Haryana Advocate General Mr Baldev Raj Mahajan and other senior officers of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh Administration. The family members of Mr. Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar and his well wishers were also present.
Mr. Justice Vazifdar was born on May 4, 1956. He completed school education in 1972 from Rishi Valley School and Graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Bombay. He did LL.B. from Hinduja Law College, Bombay. He got enrolled as an Advocate on the rolls of Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa on October 17, 1980.
Mr. Justice Vazifdar practiced on both Original and Appellate Sides in the Bombay High Court in Civil, Constitutional, Company and Arbitration matters. He also appeared in the Supreme Court, various High Courts, Tribunals and District Courts. He was sworn in as Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on January 22, 2001. He was appointed as a permanent Judge on January 21, 2003. He assumed charge as the Acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court on December 15,2014 on transfer from Bombay High Court.
