Public Distribution System (PDS) in the State would be made automatic-Kamboj.

Chandigarh, June 27 – Haryana Food and Supplies Minister, Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj, said that the entire process under Public Distribution System (PDS) in the State would be made automatic so as to free it from corruption.
He said that the Department was preparing a software based on ‘Food and Essential Commodities Assurance and Security Target (FEAST) through which supply and allocation under PDS would be made fully online.
He said that under this system, all fair price shops in the State would be connected online with the headquarters. All information from lifting of ration from godowns to sale would be provided on mobile phones of consumers so that depot holders could not cheat them. Under the National Food Security Act, data of 1.33 crore beneficiaries belonging to different categories has been digitalised. Apart from this, about 87.62 per cent ration cards and 72.6 per cent beneficiaries have been linked with Aadhaar and work is underway to link the remaining beneficiaries. Besides, data of 9,476 fair price shops and 469 godowns has also been digitalised, he added.
He said that with a view to facilitate consumers, the Department has launched helpline number 1967 for PDS.
