Haryana Police has recovered 188 kilograms of narcotic or psychotropic substances .
Chandigarh, May 13 – Haryana Police has recovered 188 kilograms of narcotic or psychotropic substances and 2300 bottles of alcohol during a special night domination exercise launched on the intervening night of March 6 and 7, 2016 in the state.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that a total of 6000 police personnel, including 145 supervisory officers were deployed for this special exercise, aimed at ensuring safety and security of the people. He said that about 38,000 vehicles were also checked during this special drive. Also, nine weapons were recovered.
He said that during the drive, a total of 220 persons were arrested and further investigation might lead to more arrests.
He said that the efforts of the police personnel bore fruit as action has been initiated in a total of 2353 cases under various provisions of the law. These included 41 cases under the Indian Penal Code, six cases under Code of Criminal Procedure , 145 cases under various Local and Special Laws and in 2161 cases under the Motor Vehicle Act.
He said that in future too such a special drive would be launched regularly to ensure the safety and security of the public in the State.
