CHANDIGARH, May 6- Haryana Government today constituted four-member Haryana Backward Classes Commission under the Chairmanship of Mr Justice Som Nath Aggarwal, former Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The Commission shall examine requests for inclusion or exclusion of any class of citizens as a Backward Class and hear complaints of over-inclusion or under-inclusion of any Backward Class and tender such advice to the State Government, as it deems appropriate.
Mr Justice Som Nath Aggarwal was selected in the PCS (Judicial) and joined as JMIC in August 1972. He was also selected by the Union Public Service Commission as Law Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Port Blair and had additional charge of IG(Prisons). He also served as President, Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Chandigarh.
Author of many books, Mr Som Nath Aggarwal also searched the records of the sacrifices of Revolutionary Patriots, who remained incarcerated in Cellular Jail in the freedom struggle, from various sources and later on got published a book entitled as The Heroes of Cellular Jail. Being a Judge of the High Court, he visited Lahore and brought the copy of the record of the trial of Shaheed-i-Azam Bhagat Singh which is now kept in the museum of the High Court.
The other members of the Commission are Mrs Ritambhara Sanghi, Mr Ashok Kumar and Mr Ramesh Chand. Director, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes has been nominated as ex-officio Member Secretary of the Commission.
