Smart City Mission and the Budget of 2016-17of Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, April 7th, 2016: Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Haryana and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh along with Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh today conducted a meeting with Administrative Secretaries and all Head of the Departments Chandigarh Administration at U.T. Secretariat. During the meeting it was discussed that the emphasis during the year would be on 4 major aspects for which funds shall be required from MHA namely Smart City, Water Supply, Solar, Health.
The meeting included two presentations regarding the Smart City Mission and about the Budget of 2016-17. For the Smart City Mission various aspects were discussed on how to make the City Beautiful, smart. It was emphasized that mobility is to be provided to the residents of the city ensuring that the emission of carbon is also reduced by increasing the electric vehicles like buses and cars in the city. A bicycle highway shall be made along with the green belt from sector 17 to 43. It was further added that steps will be taken to promote Chandigarh as a hub for innovation.

During the meeting it was suggested that by the end of this financial year best toilet facilities be provided to the school children for which renovation work of the toilets of the various Government schools should be taken up on priority.

It was also proposed that expansion in the health care sector is of utmost importance as the city caters to the patients from tricity. It was further discussed that the Southern sectors of the city will get new hospitals to bring down the pressure of other hospitals of the city.

His Excellency Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Haryana and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh concluded the meeting by appreciating the efforts of all the officers and the Administration.

The Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, appraising the Administrator on the budget position also requested the Administrator for the enhancement of the present year’s budget to ensure that the four major targets of the Administrations are achieved.
