Haryana has again got a pat on the back from the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi.

Chandigarh, January 31—Haryana has again got a pat on the back from the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. He has lauded the Haryana Government, led by Mr Manohar Lal, for the tenacity of purpose and earnestness shown in implementation of the Beti Padhao-Beti Bachao programme which has resulted in record increase in the sex ratio in most districts as well as in the entire state.
Speaking in his “Mann ki Baat” programme today, the Prime Minister also appreciated the out-of-the-box thinking of the Haryana Government in promoting the cause of the girl child by giving the honour of hoisting the National Flag in the rural areas on Republic Day to the most educated girl of the village.
It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had earlier expressed his appreciation for Haryana’s ‘Selfie with Daughter’ campaign during his visits to Faridabad in September, 2015, and in Wembley Stadium in the UK on November 13, 2015. He had stated at a public function that Haryana, which was earlier known for killing daughters, is now being recognised for its efforts to saving daughters. For the first time in ten years the sex ratio in Haryana clocked an upward trend, topping 900-mark with 903 girls for every 1,000 boy in December, 2015.
The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has credited this success to the state’s multi-pronged strategy adopted for implementation of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. While 12 districts recorded sex ratio above 900 in December, 2015, Sirsa topped the list with sex ratio of 999 girls per 1,000 boys. In Sirsa, the sex ratio at birth increased from 948 in October, 2015, to 978 in November, and to 999 in December. Panchkula has registered sex ratio of 961, Karnal 959, Fatehabad 952, Gurgaon 946, Sonepat 942, Jind 940, Rewari 931, Mewat 923, Bhiwani and Mahendragarh 912 and Hisar of 906. Inspired by this, the Chief Minister has set the target of achieving the sex ratio of above 950 in the next six months for the entire state.
“It is my vision that all states should follow the Haryana model for
improving the sex ratio at national level in order to fulfill the
vision of Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, who had launched the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ programme from Panipat on January 22, 2015.
