13,316 nominations have so far been received during the first phase of general elections to Panchayati Raj

December 29 – As many as 13,316 nominations have so far been received during the first phase of general elections to Panchayati Raj Institutions in Haryana, scheduled to be held in three phases on January 10, 17 and 24, 2016.

While giving this information here today, Haryana State Election Commissioner, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, said that 885 nominations have been received for Member Zila Parishad, of which 530 were filed by men and 355 by women.

He added that 1,529 nominations were received for Member Panchayat Samiti, of which 1,010 were filed by men and 519 by women. Similarly, 3,701 nominations have been received for the post of Sarpanches, including those filed by 2,289 men and 1,412 women, and 7,201 nominations were received for the post of panches, including those filed by 4,407 men and 2,794 women.
