4,116 nominations have so far been receieved for general elections to Panchayati Raj

Chandigarh, December 27 – As many as 4,116 nominations have so far been received during the first phase of general elections to Panchayati Raj Institutions in Haryana, scheduled to be held in three phases on January 10, 17 and 24, 2016.
While giving this information here today, Haryana State Election Commissioner, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, said that 363 nominations have been received for Member Zila Parishad, of which 199 were filed by men and 164 by women.
He added that 666 nominations were received for Member Panchayat Samiti, of which 448 were filed by men and 218 by women. Similarly, 1,131 nominations have been received for the post of Sarpanches, including those filed by 717 men and 414 women, and 1,956 nominations were received for the post of panches, including those filed by 1,178 men and 778 women.
