Chandigarh 18, December, 2015: It has been made to appear to me that a large
number of commercial places/shops (wholesale/retail) in the area falling in the jurisdiction of
East Sub-Division, OUT, Chandigarh are using polythene/ plastic carry Bags w hich is big
danger and health hazard to the lives of human beings and animals.
And whereas, I, Kriti Garg, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (South), OUT, Chandigarh,
am of the opinion that strict action is required to be taken for the safety of human lives and
animals.
Now therefore, I, Krites Garg, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (South), Chandigarh in
exercise of powers vested under section 144 Cr.P.C, hereby impose complete ban on use of
polythene/plastic carrY bags in the area falling in the East Sub Division, OUT, Chandigarh and
to strictly comply with the following:-
No person including the shopkeeper, vendor, wholesaler or retailer, trader, hawker or
Again hriwala etc. shall use polysaid/plastic carry bags for supply goods in polythene/plastic
carry bags and further directs that no person shall manufacture, store, sell, import, or
transport polythene/plastic carry bags in the area falling in the East Sub-Division, UT,
Chandigarh.
This order shall be effective for a period of 60. In view of namegent nature of the
order, it is being issued ex-parte and is addressed to public in general.
This order shall be promulgated by announcement through publicity and by affixing
copies thereof at the Notice Board of the Office of Sub Divisional Magistrate (East), OUT,
Chandigarh and publication in the newspaper having circulation in the area.
SHO ‘s of concerned Police Stations, officials concerned from Market Committee and
