Imposition of Section 144 Cr. PC

 

Chandigarh, 10 November, 2015: In compliance of the orders of the Deputy Commissioner, U.T., Chandigarh with a view to adhere to the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the Public Interest, it has been made to appear to me that the smoke from bursting of crackers during Diwali and other festivals virtually clogs the atmosphere, substantially increasing the air as well as sound pollution level.

And Whereas, I, Danish Ashraf, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (East), U.T., Chandigarh, am of the opinion that strict action is required to be taken for safety of human lives and animals. Now therefore, I, Danish Ashraf, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (East), U.T. Chandigarh in exercise of the powers vested with me under section 144 Cr. PC, hereby impose complete ban on use of Fire Crackers between 10:00 PM to 06:00 AM in the area falling in the Jurisdiction of East Sub Division, UT, Chandigarh and further directs that no person shall burst cracker between 10:00 PM to 06:00 and further no sale of crackers shall take place between 10:00 PM to 06:00 AM in the area falling in the East Sub Division, UT, Chandigarh.

And further that no person shall burst cracker within 100 mts of area of silence zones i.e. Schools, Hospitals and dispensaries etc. This order shall come into force with effect from the zero hour on 08.11.2015 and will continue for till 30-11-2015. SHOs of concerned Police Stations will ensure enforcement of the ban and will submit daily report & if any case of violation is noticed, strict action to be taken by under relevant laws/rules.
