Chief Minister administered pledge of unity and flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’.
Chandigarh, November 1 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as the ‘Iron Man of India’, has performed a great service to the nation by uniting the country and the credit for the unity and integrity that binds the nation belongs to him. On his birth anniversary, we should resolve to make efforts to keep the State and the country united, he added.
The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Run for Unity’ programme organised in Karnal to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel today.
Paying floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Mr. Manohar Lal said that as the first Home Minister of Independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel laid the foundation of united India and national unity by persuading princely states to accede to the Indian Union without any bloodshed. To keep his memory alive throughout the ages, a monument is being installed in district Narmada of Gujarat, he added. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also administered the pledge of unity to the people and flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’.
