Governor urged the people to stay active to keep diseases at bay.
Chandigarh, October 10 – Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki flagged off a rally ‘Ride to freedom’ on World Arthritis Day from Sukhna Lake here today. The rally was organized by Max Super Specialty Hospital Mohali in association with Harley Davidson, Himalayan Chapter.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor urged the people to stay active to keep diseases at bay. Health is wealth and all material things are useless to someone who is not healthy, he added.
The Governor further said that freedom, peace, security and prosperity are basic necessities of life. However, they are meaningless if we don’t have good health. For the very same reason, in Indian philosophy preference is given to health and peace of mind over money, he said.
Earlier, Director and Head, Max Elite Institute of Orthopedics and Joint Replacement, Dr Manuj Wadhwa elucidating the simple steps to limit ones chances of developing arthritis symptoms, said that maintaining a healthy weight can reduce stress on our joints. In addition, this can slow down the wear on our joints during daily activities such as walking.
Around 300 community members from all segments, former patients and the general public participated in the rally to spread the message of keeping the joints healthy. In keeping with the World Arthritis Day theme this year “It is in your hands, take action’, the entire community, which especially included women and children gathered to witness the patients merrily enjoy rides around the city.
