Mr. Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar paid tributes to Mr. Justice M.S. Gujral
Chandigarh, October 7 – A Full Court Reference on the sad demise of Mr. Justice M.S. Gujral, former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court and former Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court was held at High Court, here today. He had left for heavenly abode on September 14, 2015.
Acting Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr. Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar paid tributes to Mr. Justice M.S. Gujral and described him as one of the best judges in the Indian Judiciary. He said that Mr. Gujral had a sharp intellect and profound knowledge of the Law. He also expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolences with members of the bereaved family.
On this occasion, Additional Solicitor General of India, Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Additional Advocate General, Haryana, Mr. Pritam Singh Saini, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, Mr. Alok Jain, Vice Chairman, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, Mr. P.S. Ghumman and President, High Court Bar Association, Dr. Harpreet Singh Brar also paid tributes to Justice M.S. Gujral. The proceedings were conducted by Registrar General, Mr. Gurvinder Singh Gill.
Two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Mr. Justice M.S. Gujral was born on April 18, 1921. He was elevated as a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on August 21, 1969, and assumed the office of the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court on May 7, 1976. He retired on March 15, 1983. He is survived by wife, a son and three daughters.
