–Haryana and Punjab have agreed to construct 700- meter road between Sector 20, Panchkula, and Peer Mushalla, Punjab.
Chandigarh, Nov 17–Haryana and Punjab have agreed to construct 700- meter road between Sector 20, Panchkula, and Peer Mushalla, Punjab, and construct a bridge on Ghaggar river to facilitate traffic coming from Sectors 25 and 26, Panchkula.
Besides, an agreement has also been reached on the construction of a southern ring road in the areas of Haryana and Punjab falling in Chandigarh and construction of an alternative road for Chandigarh International Airport. A technical survey will be conducted for this alternative road.
These decisions were taken at the 4th meeting of the high level committee of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh regarding Integrated Planning and Development of Chandigarh Region, held here today.
Those present at the meeting included the Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr D.S. Dhesi, Punjab Chief Secretary, Mr Karan Avtar Singh, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh, Mr Parimal Rai, and other senior officers.
Various issues of regional importance for overall development of the Tricity were discussed. An agreement was reached on updating the comprehensive mobility plan of the Tricity by the Chandigarh Administration, and participation of Haryana and Punjab in the final proposal. Discussions were also held on ensuring seamless connectivity between UT, Haryana and Punjab.
