Children are the glory of the state and the country-Solanki.

Chandigarh, Nov 14– The Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, has said that children are the glory of the state and the country and if we make them cultured, our country, state and society will become virtuous.
Prof. Solanki, who is also President of Haryana State Council for Child Welfare (HSCCW), was addressing children, teachers and parents at the State Level Children’s Day award distribution function organised by the HSCCW at Haryana Raj Bhavan, here today. Wife of Prof. Solanki, Mrs. Rani Solanki, was also present on this occasion.
The Governor announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the HSCCW, besides giving away prizes to the winning students in different district, zone and state level competitions. Teachers play a significant role in the development of our society, he added.
Remembering Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today, the Governor said Panditji had dedicated his birthday to children and that’s why he was known as ‘Chacha Nehru’. Similarly, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan had also dedicated his birthday to children. He urged the children to build their future by taking inspiration from the lives of such great men.
On the occasion of World Diabetes Day which is also observed today, he urged the people to remain aware, active, stress-free, blood pressure-free and to stay fit.
Earlier, Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain, said the state government was committed towards providing healthy and safe environment to children and the department had been launching various activities for them.
About 25,900 anganwadi centres, 512 mini-anganwadi centres and 72 child care institutions are functioning in the state. In order to deal with child trafficking, the government has launched programmes such as Muskaan and Indradhanush, she added.
Honorary Secretary of Haryana State Council for Child Welfare also spoke on this occasion.
