Rani Padmawati in his movie violated the Indian law against the Satipratha-vij.

Chandigarh, Nov 13–The Haryana Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij, has said that Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali has not only dented the image and honour of Rani Padmawati in his movie but also violated the Indian law against the Satipratha.

In a statement issued here today, Mr Vij said though Film Sensor Board, an independent agency, could form its opinion, it should stall the release of Padmawati keeping in view the people’s sentiments. The Union Information and Broadcasting Minister has already been apprised about people’s sentiments in this regard.

Protesting the release of the movie, the minister said Rani Padmawati was the pride of our country. She, along with 16,000 women, had committed self-immolation (jauhar) after Raja Rana Rattan Singh fell in the war. “It is an insult to show princess of such high character dancing in public. It is highly objectionable as it tampers with history,” he added.

Mr Vij said Satipratha had been completely banned in India and no body could be allowed to make and release a movie promoting Satpratha. It is a clear violation of the Indian Act. Why don’t people like Bhansali get the story of the likes of Alauddin Khilji for their films who hurt the Indian masses? There are a lot of sagas of heroes in Indian culture which could be showcased to the society. But Mr Bhansali would not do this, as he wants to work for promoting a single ideology.

Expressing strong reaction to the statement given by Mr Farooq Abdullah in favour of Pakistan, Mr Vij said the circumstances in Kashmir were not getting normal due to his love for Pakistan and the Gandhi’s family’s love for Mr Abdullah.
