No hike in electricity tarif due to implementation of GST- Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam .

Chandigarh, Nov 6–With implementation of GST in Haryana, the electricity consumers would not have to bear any additional burden and there would no hike in electricity tariff.

Stating this here today, a spokesman of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam described the reports about an impending hike appearing in a section of the press, as misleading and mere guess work.
The urban local bodies have been charging 5 paise from consumers as municipal tax for a long time which the consumers have been paying along with their electricity bills. The power utilities charge 5 per cent collection charges (0.25 paise per unit) on this municipal tax.
Earlier, 12.36 per cent Service Tax was charged as collection charges which was payable by the municipal committee concerned. Now after implementation of GST, this tax has increased to 18 per cent which works out to 0.045 paise per unit which would be payable by the MC concerned. Thus, there would be no additional burden on the consumers, he added.

The spokesman said the Power Utilities had considerably reduced fuel surcharge in the last one year, providing direct benefit to the consumers. The Power Utilities are committed towards providing smooth and uninterrupted power supply to its consumers at affordable prices, he added.
