Manohar Lal today announced to name ‘YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad’ after renowned scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose.

Chandigarh, Oct 26– Haryana Chief Minister Mr.Manohar Lal today announced to name ‘YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad’ after renowned scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose Also, in principle approval has been granted for the expansion of University over an area of 60 to 65 acres.
The Chief Minister was addressing the valedictory function of a two-day Science Conclave organized by YMCA University of Science and Technology in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, Haryana to mark the Swarna Jayanti Celebrations in the University campus at Faridabad today. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects amounting to over Rs. 60 crore.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the contribution of the famous Indian Scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose in the field of science is unmatched. On his name, the University would be known as ‘JC Bose YMCA University of Science and Technology’. All the formalities related to this would be completed at the very earliest. He said that the State Government would sympathetically consider the demands raised by the University for the creation of new teaching and non-teaching posts and budgetary provision for new courses. He assured that he would visit the University again.
Referring to Science as the Mother of all inventions, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is paying special attention towards the expansion of Technical and Scientific facilities in educational institutes. He said that the Government is emphasizing on Science Education in the schools and in this direction, the recruitment of new science teachers would be done very soon.
Expressing immense pleasure over the completion of three years of the present Government on October 26, the Chief Minister said that the Government has made untiring efforts for the upliftment and development of every sector in the past three years, especially education. He said that the progress of the state is only possible with the support of educated and skilled youth.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar apprised about the background, programme being executed and soon to be implemented. He said that in spite of small campus area of mere 20 acre and limited resources, the University has maintained high standards in imparting qualitative education. He said that the University is planning to initiate various new courses and increase the number of teachers from 125 to 300. Also, regularize the courses and faculty working under Self Financing Scheme. He urged the Chief Minister for the sanction of new Teaching and Non Teaching posts and allotment of 62 acres land identified on Faridabad-Gurugram road for the second campus of the University.
A documentary based on journey of YMCA University from 1969 to till date was also screened before the Chief Minister.
Earlier, Chief Minister overviewed the Science Exhibition displayed by students from various educational institutes and gave away the prizes to the winners.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar presented a plant sapling, a souvenir and a portrait to the Chief Minister as mark of remembrance.
Those present on the occasion include MLAs Mrs. Seema Trikha, Mr. Mool Chand Sharma, Mr. Tek Chand Sharma, Vice-Chancellors of Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University and MRIU Mr. Raj Nehru and Mr. N.C. Wadhwa respectively, other dignitaries and officials of district administration.
