Rs 1,600 crore has so far been paid to farmers by cooperative sugarmills in the state for buying cane.
Chandigarh, Oct 23 – Haryana Minister of State for Cooperation, Mr Manish Kumar Grover said that from 2007 onwards, a sum of about Rs 1,600 crore has so far been paid to farmers by cooperative sugarmills in the state for buying cane, out of which Rs 1,088 crore was paid by the present government during its last three years.
Mr Grover was replying to a question during first day of ongoing winter session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
He said that under the able leadership of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal, the present government is working to ensure welfare of farming community. The sugar mills in the state have been started 15 to 20 days earlier.
