Panchkula, Oct 6–The Haryana Police have succeeded in arresting the accused who shot an accountant of a private firm, and looted Rs 2.5 lakh from him in Panchkula, on August 11, 2017.
Stating this here today, a spokesman of the Police Department said the accused had been identified as Satpal, a resident of Kansal, district Mohali, who had committed the crime along with his associate Sukhjit Singh, a resident of Amritsar.
During the interrogation, the accused said Sukhjit Singh used to do keep an eye on such persons as would withdraw heavy cash from banks. The moment such persons emerged out of the bank, Sukhjit would inform Satpal and they would jointly follow them and snatch the cash at secluded places. If anyone opposed, Satpal would shoot them.
The accused admitted they had been committing such crimes in Maruti Suzuki Zen car with three to four associates in Panchkula since 2005. As Zen car was very popular then and the police mostly checked them, they started using Swift and Indigo cars for committing such incidents. They had used Alto K10 in the Panchkula incident, he added.
The spokesman said the accused confessed to having committed 10 such crimes. The Alto K10 has been seized by the police but the revolver used in committing the crime is yet to be recovered. The accused would be taken on police remand after producing him in the court to unfold other incidents and arrest other associates.
