Investigations into the violence that took place after verdict by the CBI court in the case of Dera chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, are heading in the right direction

Chandigarh, Sept 23–The Haryana Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. B.S. Sandhu, has said that investigations into the violence that took place after verdict by the CBI court in the case of Dera chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, are heading in the right direction, and arrests are being made on the basis of evidence. As many as 1,100 persons have so far been arrested, including 44 from Sirsa, whose involvement was confirmed.
Mr. Sandhu, who was addressing a press conference in Sirsa today, said arrests were being made only on the basis of evidence. The police have released a list of 43 persons who were involved in the violence that took place in Panchkula. Besides, search operation is under way to nab three most wanted, including Honeypreet, Pawan Insan and Aditya Insan. International alert has been issued on them and teams are conducting raids to nab them.
On Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh being quizzed regarding Honeypreet, Mr Sandhu said police investigation was heading in the right direction, and whosoever required, would be interrogated. Until August 25, 2017, no case was registered against Honeypreet, but after the arrest of Surender Dhiman, Honeypreet was found to be accused of provoking violence. Therefore, a case was registered against her and search was on to nab her.
Mr Sandhu said the police had report that after the incident Honeypreet came to Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa. There is no pressure on the police and the investigation is being done independently. Private properties of Honeypreet, Pawan Insan and Aditya Insan would be attached.
As per the High Court orders, search operation was carried out in Dera Sacha Sauda under supervision of the commissioner who would submit his report to the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 27, and one copy of the report would be given to the Haryana Government. Further action would be taken according to the court orders, he added.
Replying to another question regarding the facts revealed by Vishwas Gupta pertaining to Dera chief and Honeypreet, the DGP said Vishwas Gupta had met Police Commissioner, Panchkula, but he had not given any complaint in writing to the police. If any written complaint is received, police would include it in the investigations.
Regarding involvement of police officials in the incident and information regarding association with Honeypreet, Mr. Sandhu said strict action would be taken against whosoever was found involved. The Haryana Police had already taken action against its officers and suspended them.
Answering a question, he said notices were being issued to Dera followers who had not deposited their licensed weapons, and, if needed, their licenses could be cancelled. Lauding the commendable job done by the Sirsa Police and other companies deputed in Sirsa city, Mr Sandhu said they had performed their duty diligently to maintain the law-and-order situation. He also thanked the residents of Sirsa for cooperating with the police.
In order to ensure security of schools, the DGP said the police, in association with the district administration, would review the security system in all schools. He urged the parents to report to the police if they found any kind of shortcomings in school.
Asked about referring the Pradyuman case to the CBI, he said the Gurugram Police had, soon after the incident, registered an FIR and arrested the accused within 12 hours. Following the request of Pradyuman’s parents, the case has been referred to the CBI.
