Chandigarh-14 Sept,ICCR Indian council for cultural relations organized an evening of dance at Dr. MS Randhawa Auditorium , Sector-16, Chandigarh by Malasia based Bharatnatyam danseuse Shangita Namasivayam, a Kalakshetra Bharatnatyam graduate who has discovered the deep relevance of dance in nourishing the cultural roots of the community and in shaping the growth and artistic awareness of our youth. She has devoted her life to sharing her passion for dance, and has been teaching for more than 15 years. Shangita has an admirable track record of creative work and performances, having collaborated with both local and international artistes in acclaimed performances. It is from these experiences that the inspiration for Kalpana Dance Theatre took birth. Within a short time of its inception the centre has been recognized as one of excellence for its training and methodology. Recognizing the need for continuing education in Indian classical performing arts, Kalpana Dance Theatre is the sole affiliate in Malaysia to the University of Pracheen Kala Kendra at Chandigarh. Today, Kalpana Dance Theatre has come to be recognized for its high quality of teaching and holistic approach which focuses on creating a complete artist.

Today programme is Samyoga- The Divine Union, is Kalpana Dance Theatre’s latest production featuring an all Malaysian Cast under the choreography of the world renowned PT Narendran of Kalashetra fame. Original lyrics and music are by Dr. Va Ve Subramanyam and K Hariprasad respectively.
