Chandigarh, Sept 8–The Gurugram Municipal Corporation (MC) Elections Observer and Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, today inspected some polling booths set up for the conducting the MC polls on September 24 in a fair and peaceful manner.
During the inspection, he visited the polling booths at Government High School, Sukhrali, and Gyan Devi Public School, Sector 17, Gurugram and directed the MC officers to ensure that every polling booth had such facilities as ramp for the handicapped, drinking water, toilets and power supply.
Mr Likhi said according to the directions issued by the Election Commission, on the polling day, the stalls of contenders should be located at least 100 metres away from the polling booths. All guidelines of the Election Commission would be complied with during the elections and legal action would be taken against any violation of the guidelines.
Ahead of the elections, the district administration is ensuring implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, he added.
