Government has constituted Scheduled Castes Development Council under the chairmanship of Chief Minister
Chandigarh, Aug 4 – Haryana Government has constituted Scheduled Castes Development Council under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal for implementation of Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the Council would include as Vice-Chairman the Minister, Social Welfare (Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes), whereas two MLAs from Scheduled Caste community nominated by the Chief Minister, and Administrative Secretary, Planning and Finance Department would serve as Members of the Council. Administrative Secretary, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department would serve as Member Secretary.
He said that the Council would advise the Departments of the State Government on all policy matters relating to Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan. The Council would suggest measures for proper planning and implementation of schemes by the Departments, and would approve annual Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan proposal of the Departments. The Council would also perform such other functions as might be prescribed for it by the State Government. The Council would meet at least thrice a year.
