Chandigarh, Jun 30 – Haryana has become the first state to use the EROnet for online Electoral Rolls Management to facilitate the voters. Under this system, people can get registered for issuance of voter ID, get details of voter card changed and get their vote transferred from one electoral roll to another online.
Chief Election Commissioner, Dr. Nasim Zaidi, today launched ‘EROnet Pan India’ from Haryana through video conference with all Chief Electoral Officers in the country, including Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Ankur Gupta, who was present here.
Lauding the Haryana Election Department for the preparations made by it, Dr. Zaidi said that EROnet would benefit all voters, including the youth, as it was easy to get enrolled through this system. “It is expected that EROnet will prove to be beneficial in creating awareness among those people who have not been able to get their voter cards issued yet,” he added.
Mr. Ankur Gupta said that a special campaign would be implemented in the State from July 1 to 31 to enrol the about eight lakh youth aged between 18 and 21 years who have been left out due to any reason, through EROnet. Forms 6, 6A, 7, 8 and 8A would be made available through EROnet. The Department has also fixed two days, July 9 and 23 (Sundays), on which Booth Level Officers would remain present at their respective polling centres to accept claims and objections of the voters and other people.
He said that the Election Department had also launched toll-free number 1950, functional from 9am to 5pm on all working days, to facilitate the people.
