YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad has been selected under the third phase of World Bank
Chandigarh, June 5 – YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad has been selected under the third phase of World Bank assisted Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-III) and allocated a fund of Rs. 7 Crore. The Project will be implemented as a ‘Central Sector Scheme’ monitored by the National Project Implementation Unit of Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Expressing happiness over the selection under TEQIP-III, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that the project would prove to be a boon to the University like YMCA which is in its development phase. There is a lot to be done for the up-gradation of laboratories, research facilities and other infrastructural development in the University besides training of the faculty/satff which would further strengthen the University’s capabilities for providing quality technical education, he added. He said that the University has achieved major milestones in a short span of time including accredited with Grade-A by NAAC and has ranked amongst the top Government institutions as per the latest ranking of NIRF-2017.
Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts made by Dr. Vikarm Singh and Dr. Munish Vashishta, coordinators of the project and asked them to prepare a detailed action plan for the implementation of the project so that optimum utilisation of the fund under the project could be ensured.
Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Registrar of the University said that the grant allocated under TEQIP-III would help in accelerating the pace of development of the University.
The project will be implemented with the facility of Direct Funds Transfer to the accounts of beneficiary institute and the funds would be utilised for the improvement of academic standards, filling up faculty positions, training of faculty, improving research facilities and providing better systems for assessment of Student Learning.
It may be noted that TEQIP is a joint effort between the Central Government and the World Bank for improving the quality of education in Engineering Institutions. TEQIP was conceived and designed as a long term Project to be implemented in 3 phases in order to support excellence and transformation in Technical Education in the country. The first phase of the Project was started in 2003 which lasted till 2009. The second phase was from 2010 to 2016 and the third phase initiated in 2017 would be co-terminus with Fourteenth Finance Commission (2019-20).
