Programme for the preparation of wardwise Electoral rolls has been issued-Dalip Singh.
Panchkula, June 2 – Haryana State Election Commissioner, Dr Dalip Singh said that the programme for the preparation of wardwise Electoral rolls has been issued today, for the General Election of Municipal Corporation, Gurugram which is to be conducted in near future.
Giving details of schedule to prepare the electoral rolls, he said that the wardwise and boothwise photo based Draft Electoral Rolls of all wards of the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram would be prepared from June 6 to 21, 2017. The Publication of Draft Electoral Rolls of all the wards of the Municipal Corporation for inviting claims and objections would be carried out on June 22, 2017. The claims and objections would be presented to the Revising Authority by June 28, 2017 up to 3 pm and would be disposed of by July 5, 2017 except on July 2, 2017 (Sunday).
He said that the last date for filing appeals with the Deputy Commissioner against the orders of Revising Authority is July 8, 2017 and the last date for disposal of appeals by the Deputy Commissioner is July 12, 2017 except on July 9, 2017 (Sunday). The final publication of Electoral Rolls would be done on July 20, 2017.
Dr Singh directed to distribute the electors existing in the electoral rolls of the respective area of Legislative Assembly constituencies, prepared by the Election Commission of India with reference to January 1, 2017 as the qualifying date, into the wards and booths of the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram.
He further added that the electoral rolls of the Municipalities were being prepared on the basis of the electoral rolls of the respective Legislative Assembly Constituencies and new voters were also being included in these rolls. But, as per the amendment made by the Government in the Haryana Municipal Corporation Election Rules, 1994 dated March 14, 2017, such practice has been discontinued. As per new amendment, only the electors existed in the respective area of the Legislative Assembly Constituency would be distributed in the wards of the Municipal Corporation. So, if any person intends to include his name in the electoral roll of Municipal Corporation, he should have to first included his name in the electoral rolls of respective Legislative Assembly Constituency; otherwise his name shall not be included in the electoral rolls of Municipal Corporation, he added.
Dr. Singh also added that any person, whose name is not included in the finally published ward wise electoral rolls of Municipal Corporation, can apply to the Deputy Commissioner for addition or deletion or correction of his name. But, any addition or deletion or correction in name could only be made, if the name of the claimant exists in the relevant part of Assembly Electoral Roll till the first day of filing nomination papers, he added.
