British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Andrew Ayre, today called on Haryana Chief Secretary,
Chandigarh, May 15 –c Mr. D.S. Dhesi, and held discussion regarding possibilities of cooperation in different fields, including Smart Cities, industry, skill development and agriculture.
Mr. D.S. Dhesi informed that State Resident Database was being prepared to record details of all persons in the State, and would be completed within next three months. This initiative has so far been launched only in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he added.
He said that Karnal and Faridabad have been included in the list of 100 cities under the Smart City project of the Central Government. Work has already begun in Faridabad, which offers abundant possibilities for trade and industry, he added.
He said that with a view to ensure systematic economic development of the areas adjoining the National Highways, the State Government was planning to develop a series of special theme parks along the 135-kilomentre Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway. This Expressway passes through districts Sonepat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Gurgaon, Nuh and Palwal. The Palwal-Manesar section of the Expressway has already been completed. After its completion, the Expressway would bring considerable transformation in the State. Besides, work is underway on circular road surrounding Delhi, 70 per cent of which lies in Haryana, he added.
The Chief Secretary said that Single Roof Clearance System had been launched to facilitate entrepreneurs and ensure ‘ease of doing business’. Haryana ranks sixth in the country and first in north India in terms of ‘ease of doing business’. He said that initiatives such as Global City, logistic hub and mass rapid rail-based transport system for Gurugram have been included under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project. These projects would be implemented jointly with the Central Government, he added.
He said that ‘Haryana Kaushal Vikas Mission’ had been launched for skill development of youth in the State, under which training would be provided to about 15,000 youth.
He said that Haryana had completed 50 years of its inception and the Swarna Jayanti of the Year was being celebrated from November 1, 2016 to October 31, 2017. Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, had launched the year-long celebrations, being marked by various programmes, from Gurugram.
