Haryana Government has instructed farmers not to burn crop residue, and strict action would be taken against those found engaging in the activity.
Chandigarh, April 25 – With a view to curb the increasing pollution in Haryana, Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR), the Haryana Government has instructed farmers not to burn crop residue, and strict action would be taken against those found engaging in the activity.
While stating this here today, Additional Director General Police (Law and Order), Mr. Mohd. Akil, said that taking cognisance of the prevailing increase in pollution, the National Green Tribunal, Supreme Court and the Government found that it was caused by burning of crop residue.
He said that Police personnel have instructed farmers not to burn crop residue. Farmers would be educated about the adverse effects of burning crop residue. Deputy Commissioners of all districts have also been asked to impose Section 144, and strict action would be taken against violators, he added.
