Dr. Pawan Saini, today handed over cheques for Rs 50 lakh to the bereaved family members of martyr Sepoy Mandeep Singh.
Chandigarh, Feb 26 – Haryana Member of Legislative Assembly, Dr. Pawan Saini, today handed over cheques for Rs 50 lakh to the bereaved family members of martyr Sepoy Mandeep Singh, who lost his life in an encounter near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir in October, 2016.
Paying glowing tributes to the martyr at his native village Antehri in district Kurukshetra, Dr. Pawan Saini said that brave soldiers of the State were always ready to sacrifice their lives to safeguard the honour of the nation.
He handed over cheques for Rs 12.50 lakh each to the martyr’s parents Mr. Phool Singh and Mrs. Nirmala, and for Rs 25 lakh to his wife, Mrs. Prerna. He said that as Mrs. Prerna was already serving in Haryana Police, formalities were being completed to provide government job to the martyr’s brother, Mr. Sandeep Singh, as announced earlier by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal.
Apart from this, the Gram Panchayat has given 0.50 acre land for development of park and memorial in the name of the martyr. A road has already been named after him and gate would be constructed at entry point of village Antehri from village Manthana.
Deputy Commissioner, Kurukshetra, Ms. Sumedha Kataria was also present on the occasion.
