University named after Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji would be set up in Northern Haryana and Government College, Assandh would be named after Baba Fateh Singh

CHANDIGARH, February 12- The 350th birth anniversary of 10th Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji was celebrated with enthusiasm in Haryana as the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal announced a number of projects at a State Level Samagam – Chardi Kalan to mark Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj at Karnal today.
The Chief Minister announced that a university named after Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji would be set up in Northern Haryana and Government College, Assandh would be named after Baba Fateh Singh, the younger son of Guru Gobind Singh ji. He said that VLDA College to be set up at Lakhnaur Sahib and the road from Manav Chowk Ambala upto Lakhnaur Sahib via Barala would be named after Mata Gujri.
He also announced to open three new passport offices at Karnal, Faridabad and Hisar thus raising the number of such offices in the State to five. The other two being at Ambala and Gurugram. He said that he had urged Union Minister of External Affairs, Mrs Sushma Swaraj that as people have to visit Chandigarh, Gurugram and Ambala to get their passports prepared, three new passport offices be opened in Haryana for the convenience of the people.
The Chief Minister also announced that 397 vacant posts of PGT Punjabi and 392 posts of TGT Punjabi in government schools of the State would soon be filled up. New posts of teachers in Punjabi would also be sanctioned for the schools as per their requirement, he added.
He also announced that a magnificent gate named after Guru Nanak Dev ji would be constructed on Chidaun Moar on Karnal-Kaithal road and the State Level Shri Guru Gobind Singh Library at Ambala would be given a face-lift. He said that a statue of Kushal Singh, the brave disciple of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji would be set up at village Badh Khalsa in district Sonipat.
The Chief Minister said that after the battle of Bhagani in 1688, Guru Gobind Singh Ji had , on his way to Annandpur Sahib from Kapal Mochan, stayed for a while at Nada Sahib. Therefore, in his memory, the road from Nada Sahib to Paunta Sahib, barring the portion of State Highway, would be named after Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This road would be from Matawala to Khandesar- Riapurrani-Naranyangarh-Bilaspur-Sadhaura upto Chachrauli. He said that a magnificent museum would be constructed in Ambala at a point connecting Amritsar-Delhi and Ambala –Shimla road.
Mr Manohar Lal said that this State Level Samagam is being organized by the State Government on the occasion of 350th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Gobind Singh. He said that since the year 1966 when Haryana was carved out as a separate State, none of the previous State Governments had celebrated a Sikh Utsav in such a befitting manner as was being celebrated by the present State Government. While describing the history of 240 years of Dashmi Patsahi (1469-1709) as a unique history, he said that when the people of the country were reeling under the atrocities of the Mughal and had lost all hopes, Guru Gobind Singh ji was born and enlightened the people through bhakti movement. He said that Guru Gobind Singh ji fought bravely against the Mughals and made supreme sacrifice.
He said that with a view to ensure that his high ideals and teachings remain relevant for a long time, he had created the holy Guru Granth Sahib and included the couplets of Rama, Krishna, Kabir and Meera. Today, this holy granth inspired us to follow the principles of Khalsa Panth, he added. He said that besides Guru Gobind Singh ji, the name of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur could not be forgotten. Baba Banda Singh Bahadur who had become a saint, started his austerity from Nanded. But later on he raised arms against the atrocities of mughals and started his campaign from Khandakheri in Haryana and raised an Army of youth.
He said that the State Government has started a tradition of celebrating important days of our great saints. The State Government has already celebrated the 300th year of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. He also thanked 175 sikh saints and a large number of people who participated in this programme.
Earlier, speaking on this occasion, Finance Minister Capt. Abhimanyu paid rich tributes to Guru Gobind Singh ji . He said that Guru Gobind Singh ji had infused great confidence among the people of the country and founded the Khalsa Panth.

BJP State President Mr Subhash Barala said that Guru Gobind Singh was a great warrior who sacrificed his four generations for the country. He said that when the country was facing the brunt of slavery, he enlightened the people of the country and gave message to fight against atrocities.
Chief Parliamentary Secerary Mr Bakshish Singh Virk said that after the freedome of the country in 1947, the Sikh community had made progress of its own. He said that the community has been instrumental in giving many Chief Ministers to the State, but the people of the State were satisfied under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal. He assured on behalf of the Sikh community, all support and cooperation to the State Government.

President Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Mr Kirpal Singh Badungar was all praise for the Chief Minister for organizing this programme and assured him of all support for the welfare of Sikh community. He said that such programmes further strengthen the brotherhood in the State.
