Chandigarh, Jan 4 – Haryana Women and Child Development Department will organise a state level workshop on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, 2012, for Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) functionaries and stakeholders at Kisan Bhawan, Panchkula on January 6, 2017.
Additional Chief Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, Mr. P.K. Mahapatra, would be the chief guest whereas Joint Member Secretary, Haryana State Legal Services Authority, Mr. Sunil Chauhan, would be the keynote speaker on the POCSO Act, 2012. Representatives from National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), New Delhi, non-governmental organisation POSHCA and technical expert from National Informatics Centre (NIC), Haryana would also address the workshop.
About 120 persons, including Chairperson and all other members of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Haryana, Chairpersons and members of District-level Child Welfare Committees, civil surgeons, nodal officers and Child Welfare Police Officers of Special Juvenile Police Units, and District Child Protection Officers from all districts of Haryana, would participate in the workshop.
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 is a comprehensive law to provide for the protection of children from the offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography, while safeguarding the interests of the child at every stage of the judicial process by incorporating child-friendly mechanisms for reporting, recording of evidence, investigation and speedy trial of offences through designated Special Courts.
