The two-day 4th edition of the Chandigarh Lit Fest, Literati-2016 began
Chandigarh, Nov 26 – The two-day 4th edition of the Chandigarh Lit Fest, Literati-2016 began here today with special focus on creative writing and film making in Punjabi.
The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore, who inaugurated the festival assured all help to Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) for taking it to a different level.
Chairperson of the CLS and the Festival Director, Dr. Sumita Misra welcomed the Governor, Adviser to the Administrator, Mr. Parimal Rai, Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr. David Lelliott, Consulate General of Canada, Dr. Christopher Gibbins and famous author from Canada and award winning story writer, Ms. Shauna Singh Baldwin.
Dr. Misra said that there is a special focus on creative writing and film making in Punjabi this year. Punjabi film industry’s noted writer Jass Grewal and star comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi would also share their creative journey in Punjabi cinema. In the evening today, there was a cultural presentation by internationally recognised stand-up comedian, Ms. Radhika Vaz.
She said that the CLS has given a fillip to the literary activities in the region through its regular interaction and motivation to budding authors. The celebrated authors who are participating in CLS Literati included Amish Tripathi known as ‘India’s first literary popstar’, thriller fiction maestro Ashwin Sanghi, Tarek Fatah, well-known journalist Power Room’ fame author Shefalee Vasudev, reputed psychiatrist, author and founder of Mind Body Clinic Shyam Bhat, prolific writer from Kashmir, Chandrakanta and others.
The Team Literati comprises Charanjit Singh, Vivek Atray, Meenaxee Raj, Hardeep Chandpuri, Madhav Kaushik, Suparna Puri and Saguna Jain.
Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr. David Lelliott, Consulate General of Canada, Dr. Christopher Gibbins and noted author from Canada, Ms. Shauna Singh Baldwin also spoke on this occasion.
