Cases of dengue, malaria and chikungunya is under control-Vij.
Chandigarh, Nov 4–The Haryana Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij, has said that as a result of the facilities provided by the state government, the situation with respect to reported cases of dengue, malaria and chikungunya is under control, and the number of cases reported in Haryana is negligible as compared to the neighbouring states.
Speaking at the Swarna Jayanti session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today, Mr Vij said that while 18,000 and 5,000 cases of dengue had so far been reported in Delhi and Punjab, respectively, only 1,800 cases had been reported in Haryana, which is 10 per cent and 32 per cent of the cases in Delhi and Punjab, respectively.
Officers of the Health Department have been cautioned against any negligence in this regard, and the Central Government has directed that dengue cases would be confirmed only after testing in laboratories of government hospitals.
He said that employees of the National Health Mission (NHM) who had gone on strike demanding regularisation, had been recruited during the tenure of the previous Congress Government, and affidavits stating that they could not demand regularisation had been sought from them.
Besides, NHM is a project of the Central Government under which there is no scope for regularisation of employees. Apart from this, the regularisation policy framed by the Congress Government had also been stayed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, he added.
Mr Vij said that representatives of NHM employees who had called on him had been asked to rejoin duty so that their remaining demands could be considered sympathetically.
