Emulate the values of the freedom fighters-Solanki.
Chandigarh, August 15 – Governor of Haryana and Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh UT, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, has urged the people to emulate the values of the freedom fighters and work towards making the country the biggest superpower of this century.
The Governor was speaking after unfurling the National Flag and inspecting the parade at the Independence Day function at Parade Ground here today. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country, at the War Memorial in Sector 3 here.
Paying rich tributes to all the known and unsung heroes of the freedom struggle, the Governor urged the people to resolve to protect the freedom which was attained after long struggle and sacrifice by these brave men and women. Expressing gratitude towards all nation-builders, including soldiers patrolling the borders, scientists, farmers and workers, he said that the country was counted amongst the big powers due to their bravery, talent and hard work.
He expressed pride in the fact that the hard-working people of the region have set many milestones in terms of development, with Haryana emerging as a leader in development and Faridabad being included in the list of cities to be developed as ‘Smart Cities’.
Referring to the Golden Jubilee of the inception of Haryana, he said that in the last 50 years, the people of the State have achieved many milestones in various fields and the State was counted amongst the developed States. The development of the State is acknowledged and appreciated globally, he added.
The Governor felicitated those who brought laurels to the State in different fields, apart from citizens, officers and employees who provided excellent services. He also honoured the freedom fighters and their family members who were seated there.
An impressive march past was presented by the contingents of Haryana Police, Home Guards, N.C.C. and Scouts. Children from different schools also presented a colourful cultural programme
